Procida è definita da tutti come la perla del Golfo di Napoli; con i suoi 4 kmq è la più piccola tra le isole partenopee.
Per concludere l’estate in bellezza non potevo scegliere meta migliore per passare un weekend all’insegna del sole, del riposo, della cultura e del bel mare.
Alla fine di settembre, così, abbiamo deciso di partire alla volta dell’isola campana.
Procida si raggiunge davvero facilmente grazie ai frequenti traghetti che partono dal molo Beverello di Napoli; in circa 40 minuti si è già sull’isola!
Arrivate al porto, ad attenderci c’era la navetta dell’hotel che ci ha ospitate: La Suite Hotel & Spa, un boutique hotel ***** immerso nel cuore di Procida.
Procida is known as the pearl of the Gulf of Naples; with its 4 sq km it is the smallest among the Neapolitan islands.
For ending the Summer in beauty I could not choose a better destination to spend a weekend full of sun, relax, culture and the beautiful sea.
Thus, at the end of September, we decided to leave for the island of Campania.
Procida can be reached easily thanks to the frequent ferries departing from the Beverello pier in Naples; in about 40 minutes you are already on the island!
Arriving at the port, the hotel shuttle that hosted us was waiting for us: La Suite Hotel & Spa, a ***** boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Procida.

La Suite Hotel è una vera e propria oasi di tranquillità, con un giardino privato di 5000 mq da cui si può accedere alla particolarissima piscina esterna in pietra lavica che richiama la sabbia nera delle spiagge di quest’isola di origine vulcanica.
La nostra Garden Junior Suite aveva un patio privato con sdraio e tavolino, una piacevolissima vista sul giardino bio dell’hotel e l’accesso diretto alla black pool dove potersi rilassare e tuffarsi nell’acqua fresca e piacevole.
Il design interno della suite era minimalista e sofisticato con un comodissimo letto king size dall’aspetto super chic.
Where staying
The Suite Hotel is a real oasis of tranquility, with a 5000 m2 private garden from which you can access the very special outdoor pool in lava stone which recalls the black sand of the beaches of this volcanic island.
Our Garden Junior Suite had a private patio with deck chairs and a small table, a pleasant view of the hotel’s bio garden and direct access to the black pool where you can relax and dive in the fresh and pleasant water.
The interior design of the suite was minimalist and sophisticated with a super chic and comfortable king size bed.
Spiaggia del Postino
Dal nostro hotel, abbiamo potuto facilmente raggiungere in soli 5 minuti di camminata la bellissima spiaggia Il Pozzo Vecchio, chiamata anche la Spiaggia del Postino in onore di una delle scene cult del film di Massimo Troisi.
Scendendo per la strada che costeggia il cimitero, ci si imbatte nella piccola baia a forma di ferro di cavallo la cui sabbia dal colore scuro rende l’azzurro del mare ancora più intenso.

From our hotel, we were able to easily reach the beautiful Pozzo Vecchio beach in just 5 minutes on foot, also called the Postman’s Beach in honor of one of the cult scenes of Massimo Troisi’s film.
Going down the road that runs along the cemetery, you come across the small horseshoe shaped bay whose dark sand makes the blue of the sea even more intense.
Faraglioni di Procida
Ebbene sì, i Faraglioni non esistono solo a Capri!
I due splendidi faraglioni dell’isola di Procida sono, però, molto più piccoli ma non per questo meno importanti.
Di origine tufacea, si sono creati in seguito alla frana del costone roccioso.
Essi separano la Spiaggia di Ciraccio da quella del Ciracciello, più comunemente nota come Spiaggia della Chiaiolella. È questo il tratto sabbioso più lungo di tutta l’isola di Procida. Sabbia nera e acqua azzurra, un vero paradiso wild!
Da qui, volgendo le spalle ai Faraglioni, si può ammirare l’isolotto di Vivara, attualmente disabitato e riserva naturale statale, collegato a Procida da un ponte pedonale.
Faraglioni of Procida
Well yes, the Faraglioni don’t exist only in Capri!
The two splendid stacks of the island of Procida are, however, much smaller but no less important for this.
Of tufaceous origin, they were created following the landslide of the rocky ridge.
They separate Ciraccio Beach from Ciracciello Beach, more commonly known as Chiaiolella Beach. This is the longest sandy stretch of the whole island of Procida. Black sand and blue water, a true wild paradise!
From here, turning your back on the Faraglioni, you can admire the islet of Vivara, currently uninhabited and state nature reserve, connected to Procida by a pedestrian bridge.
Belvedere di Chiaia
Il Belvedere di Via Pizzaco è chiamato anche Belvedere di Chiaia perchè affaccia sull’omonima spiaggia.
Nel 2017 è stato intitolato ad Elsa Morante che qui aveva preso ispirazione per scrivere il suo libro vincitore del premio Strega L’isola di Arturo .
Da questo stupendo punto panoramico la vista è magnifica e gli occhi si riempiono di tutto questo splendore; si può ammirare in tutta la sua bellezza la caratteristica baia della Corricella.
Belvedere of Chiaia
The Belvedere of Via Pizzaco is also called Belvedere di Chiaia because it overlooks the homonymous beach.
In 2017 it was named after Elsa Morante who had taken inspiration here to write his book “L’isola di Arturo” which won the Strega prize.
From this wonderful panoramic point, the view is magnificent and the eyes are filled with all this splendor; the characteristic bay of Corricella can be admired in all its beauty.
Terra Murata e panorama sulla Corricella
Chi si reca a Procida non può fare a meno di visitare Terra Murata. Si tratta del centro fortificato dell’isola, un luogo di estrema bellezze edificato sul punto più alto.
Una volta arrivati in cima non si possono non visitare Palazzo D’Avalos, adibito a carcere fino al 1988, e l’Abbazia di San Michele Arcangelo, patrono e protettore dell’isola di Procida.
Centro storico e culturale, Terra Murata è a picco sul mare; dal Belvedere è possibile ammirare un panorama mozzafiato su tutto il Golfo di Napoli.

Those who go to Procida must visit Terra Murata.
It is the fortified center of the island, a place of extreme beauty built on the highest point.
Once you reach the top you cannot miss Palazzo D’Avalos, used as a prison until 1988, and the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo, patron and protector of the island of Procida.
Historical and cultural center, Terra Murata is overlooking the sea; from the Belvedere it is possible to admire a breathtaking view over the entire Gulf of Naples.
Riscendendo a piedi verso la Corricella, ci si imbatte in un altro punto panoramico, il più famoso e fotografato di tutta l’isola. A rendere particolare questo luogo, ci sono i due cannoni risalenti alla Repubblica Napoletana del 1799.
Da qui si può ammirare la baia con le famose casette colorate.
Piccola curiosità: sapete perchè ogni casetta ha un colore diverso? Quando i pescatori si allontanavano per lunghi periodi e poi tornavano nella loro terra, potevano riconoscere già da una notevole distanza quale fosse la loro dimora.
Going down on foot towards Corricella, you come across another panoramic point, the most famous and photographed of the whole island. To make this place special, there are the two cannons dating back to the Neapolitan Republic of 1799.
From here you can admire the bay with the famous colored houses.
Little curiosity: do you know why each house has a different color? When the fishermen left for long periods and then returned to their land, they could already recognize from a considerable distance what their home was.
Villaggio della Corricella e piazzetta Massimo Troisi
Tra un vicolo e un altro, scendendo verso il villaggio della Corricella, inaspettatamente ci si ritrova in una piccola piazzetta variopinta che affaccia sul mare: è la piazzetta dedicata al noto regista e attore napoletano Massimo Troisi, che fece dell’isola il set principale per il suo ultimo capolavoro Il Postino.
Dopo il tramonto, la Corricella assume un aspetto suggestivo e romantico grazie anche alla passeggiata che costeggia il porticciolo dove sono attraccate numerose barchette dei pescatori.
Corricella village and Massimo Troisi square
Between one alley and another one, going down towards the village of Corricella, you unexpectedly find yourself in a small colorful square overlooking the sea: it is the square dedicated to the well-known Neapolitan director and actor Massimo Troisi, who made the island the main set for his latest masterpiece Il Postino.
After sunset, the Corricella takes on an evocative and romantic aspect thanks also to the promenade that runs alongside the marina where numerous fishermen’s boats are moored.

Nel pittoresco scenario di Marina Corricella, si trova dal 2018 il ristorante Il Pescatore di cui siamo state ospiti.
A deliziare i palati dei suoi clienti, lo chef di fama internazionale Luigi Quaranta che seleziona in maniera attenta e rigorosa gli ingredienti e le materie prime esclusivamente a km 0.
Ispirato alla cucina tipica mediterranea, Il Pescatore propone piatti a base di pesce ed ingredienti biologici.
Particolarmente buoni e consigliati da me, l’antipasto di polpo alla griglia su letto di purea di patate e linguine ai ricci di mare; per concludere in bellezza, la famosa torta Caprese.
La location è davvero originale e particolare; l’ambiente dal design raffinato crea la giusta armonia con la tradizione procidana.

In 2018, in the picturesque setting of Marina Corricella, it’s located Il Pescatore restaurant.
To delight the palates of its clients, the internationally renowned chef Luigi Quaranta carefully and rigorously selects the ingredients exclusively at 0 km.
Inspired by the typical Mediterranean cuisine, Il Pescatore offers dishes based on fish and organic ingredients.
Particularly good and recommended by me, the grilled octopus appetizer on a bed of mashed potatoes and linguine with sea urchins; to conclude, the famous Caprese cake.
The location is truly original and particular; the refined design environment creates the right harmony with the Procida tradition.
