Tra i Carpazi a nord e il Danubio a sud sorge una delle capitali più incantevoli e vivaci d’Europa, ancora troppo sottovalutata: Bucarest.
Durante il periodo della Belle Époque, l’architettura elegante e l’atmosfera urbana portarono alla capitale rumena il soprannome di Piccola Parigi dell’Est, dovuto ai moltissimi monumenti ed edifici di incredibile valore artistico e storico che si trovano all’interno della città e anche per via della sua aurea culturale ed intellettuale: essa, infatti, ospita quasi 40 musei, 22 teatri, 18 gallerie d’arte e numerose biblioteche. Un vero gioiello!
Lontana dalle solite mete turistiche, Bucharest ha fin da subito catturato il mio sguardo e la mia attenzione.
Ciò che mi ha colpito dal primo momento in cui ho messo piede qui, sono stati gli ampi viali che attraversano la città e la maestosità degli edifici; basti pensare al Palazzo del Parlamento che è l’edificio amministrativo più grande del mondo, secondo solo al Pentagono di Washington D.C. .
Between the Carpathians to the North and the Danube to the South, there is one of the most enchanting and vibrant capitals of Europe, still too undervalued: Bucharest.
During the Belle Époque period, the elegant architecture and the urban atmosphere brought the nickname Little Paris of the East to the Romanian capital, due to the many monuments and buildings of incredible artistic and historical value that are in the city and also because of its cultural and intellectual aura: in fact, it hosts almost 40 museums, 22 theaters, 18 art galleries and numerous libraries. A real gem!
Far from the usual tourist destinations, Bucharest has immediately caught my eye and my attention.
What struck me from the first moment I set foot here were the wide avenues that run through the city and the majesty of the buildings; just think of the Parliament Building which is the largest administrative building in the world, second only to the Washington D.C. Pentagon .
Nonostante le notevoli distante che separano i monumenti e le principali attrazioni di Bucarest, la città è collegata perfettamente da un’efficiente rete metropolitana di cui ci siamo servite per tutto il nostro soggiorno rumeno.
Proprio in considerazione di ciò, abbiamo scelto di soggiornare in uno dei principali hotel della capitale collocato in una posizione strategica: il MERCURE BUCHAREST CITY CENTER.
L’albergo si trova a soli venti minuti dall’aeroporto, a pochi passi dalla fermata della Metro Piața Romană e a 10 minuti a piedi dal famoso quartiere Lipscani, cuore della movida e centro storico.
Il Mercure Bucharest City Centre è un hotel boutique alla moda, che trae ispirazione dal famoso compositore George Enescu, da cui prende il nome anche la via in cui è posizionato; tutto l’albergo, compresa la sala colazione e le camere presentano, infatti, pezzi di arredamento musicali (tazze del caffè, piattini, quadri con spartiti).
Despite the remarkable distance that separates the monuments and the main attractions of Bucharest, the city is perfectly connected by an efficient metropolitan railway which we used throughout our Romanian stay.
Precisely in consideration of this, we have chosen to stay in one of the main hotels of the capital located in a strategic position: the Mercure Bucharest City Center.
The hotel is only twenty minutes from the airport, a few steps from the Piața Romană Metro stop and a 10-minute walk from the famous Lipscani district, the heart of the nightlife and historic center.
The Mercure Bucharest City Center is a trendy boutique hotel, inspired by the famous composer George Enescu, from which the street where it is located takes its name; in fact, the entire hotel, including the breakfast room and the rooms have musical pieces of furniture (coffee cups, plates, paintings with scores).
La nostra Superior Room si trovava al quinto piano; l’arredamento è stato rinnovato da poco e presenta dettagli di stile dal design moderno e due ampie finestre panoramiche che rendono la camera super luminosa.
Due letti alla francese, un piccolo salottino con coffee table e poltroncina, una scrivania con bollitore per tè e caffè, minibar con tanti snack e drink, un bell’armadio spazioso e un delizioso bagno con ampia doccia.
Our Superior Room was on the fifth floor; the design has been recently renovated and features stylish details with a modern design and two large panoramic windows that make the room super bright.
Two French beds, a small sitting area with a coffee table and an armchair, a desk with tea and coffee kettle, a minibar with lots of snacks and drinks, a nice wardrobe and a lovely bathroom with a large shower.
La colazione intercontinentale era davvero ottima e abbondante e veniva servita ogni mattina fino alle 10:30 nella sala antistante la reception; a rendere il tutto ancora più modern chic, una bellissima hall, spaziosa, luminosa, arredata con gusto e attenzione per i particolari. Raffinata e di buon gusto la libreria a parete intera con numerose e pregiate bottiglie di vino.
The intercontinental breakfast was really good and plentiful and was served every morning until 10:30 in the room in front of the reception; to make the hotel even more modern chic, a beautiful hall, spacious, bright, furnished with attention to details. There was a big bookcase with numerous and fine wine bottles; so amazing!
E per coloro che nemmeno in vacanza possono fare a meno di passare un po’ di tempo in palestra, nell’hotel è presente anche una bella sala fitness!
Lo staff del Mercure Bucharest City Center, attento ad ogni nostra richiesta o esigenza, è stato molto cordiale e ci ha fatto sentire sempre accolte e a casa.
Non ho davvero nessuna scusa per non soggiornare di nuovo qui la prossima volta che tornerò a Bucarest!
And for those who can’t live without spending time in the gym even on vacation, there is also a nice fitness room in the hotel!
The staff of the Mercure Bucharest City Center, attentive to our every request or need, was very friendly and made us feel welcomed.
I really have no excuse for not staying here again next time I come back to Bucharest!
