Il capoluogo piemontese, con i suoi 17 chilometri quadrati di natura, è attraversato dal fiume Po ed è tra le metropoli più verdi d’Italia, con una straordinaria presenza di giardini e parchi. In città spicca per bellezza e dimensioni il Parco del Valentino, con il suo elegante Castello del Settecento ed il Borgo Medioevale, invenzione dell’Esposizione Universale del 1884.

Tantissime sono le meraviglie (architettoniche e non solo) che Torino riserva ai suoi visitatori!

Tra le bellezze da non perdere nella prima capitale del Regno d’Italia, rientra sicuramente la Mole Antonelliana, vero simbolo della città che, con i suoi 163,35 metri di altezza, è considerato il più alto edificio in muratura del mondo. Situata nel centro storico di Torino, la Mole, che oggi ospita il Museo Nazionale del Cinema, prende il nome dall’architetto novarese Alessandro Antonelli che la realizzò tra il 1863 e il 1889. Grazie ad un ascensore panoramico è possibile visitare il tempietto posizionato sotto la guglia, da cui si gode un bellissimo panorama della città e delle montagne circostanti. Il mio consiglio? Salite sulla Mole al crepuscolo… il sole che tramonta sulla città vi regalerà un’esperienza indimenticabile.

Il Duomo di Torino, unica testimonianza di arte rinascimentale della città, risalente alla fine del ‘400, sorge nell’omonima piazza, nel luogo in cui si trovava in passato una basilica trecentesca.  Esso custodisce uno dei più grandi misteri della religione cristiana: la Sacra Sindone.

There are so many wonders (architectural and not only) that Turin reserves for its visitors!

Among the beauties not to be missed in the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy, there is certainly the Mole Antonelliana, a true symbol of the city that, with its 163.35 meters high, is considered the highest masonry building in the world. Located in the historic center of Turin, the Mole, which today houses the National Cinema Museum, takes its name from the Novara-born architect Alessandro Antonelli who built it between 1863 and 1889. Thanks to a panoramic elevator, you can visit the small temple located below the spire, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the surrounding mountains. My advice? Climb up the Mole at dusk … the sun setting over the city will give you an unforgettable experience.

The Duomo of Turin, the only evidence of Renaissance art in the city, dating back to the end of the fifteenth century, stands in the homonymous square, in the place where a fourteenth-century basilica once stood. It holds one of the greatest mysteries of the Christian religion: the Holy Shroud.

Situata tra Piazza Castello e Piazza Carlo Felice, c’è la stupenda Piazza San Carlo, conosciuta come il “salotto di Torino” grazie alla singolare eleganza che la contraddistingue. 

A pochi passi da Piazza San Carlo e da Palazzo Carignano, sede del primo Parlamento Italiano, è possibile visitare il famoso Museo Egizio, il più antico al mondo e secondo per importanza solo a quello del Cairo. 

Infine, a soli 10 km dalla città del Gianduiotto sorge l’incantevole seicentesca Reggia di Venaria Reale, un tempo dimora dei reali di Casa Savoia, ad oggi patrimonio Unesco ed una delle più sontuose residenze reali europee, simbolo dell’architettura barocca piemontese. Assolutamente imperdibili i 60 ettari di giardino adiacenti al Palazzo e lo spettacolo dei “giochi d’acqua a suon di musica classica” della fontana (informatevi in reception sull’orario).

A few steps from Piazza San Carlo and Palazzo Carignano, home of the first Italian Parliament, you can visit the famous Egyptian Museum, the oldest in the world and second in importance only to that of Cairo.

Finally, just 10 km from the city of Gianduiotto rises the enchanting seventeenth-century Reggia di Venaria Reale, once home to the royal family Savoy, today a Unesco heritage and one of the most sumptuous European royal residences, symbol of Piedmontese Baroque architecture. Absolutely not to be missed are the 60 hectares of garden adjacent to the Palace and the spectacle of the “water games with the sound of classical music” of the fountain (ask at reception about the time).
