CDSHotels Basiliani : Relax e benessere in un angolo di paradiso

Mi ero ripromessa che quando avessimo avuto di nuovo la possibilità di viaggiare, avrei prediletto la mia amata Italia.
E così è stato! Ho mantenuto la parola data a me stessa: riscoprire e ammirare con i giusti occhi le infinite bellezze del nostro Paese, troppo spesso sottovalutato e bistrattato.

Non basterebbero tre vite per scoprire tutti gli angoli stupendi che il Bel Paese ha da offrire a chi ha voglia di apprezzarne l’immenso patrimonio artistico e naturalistico.

Ma da qualche parte bisogna pur ricominciare, o meglio, cominciare. Sì, perché nella mia breve vita ho avuto la fortuna di poter viaggiare tantissimo ma forse non ho mai apprezzato fino in fondo ciò che mi circonda.
Sono fiera di essere italiana, di vivere nel posto più bello del mondo, ma troppo spesso l’ho messo da parte per fuggire verso mete estere, convinta che abbiano di meglio da offrire.

Mai errore fu così grande. Mi serviva il lockdown per capirlo? Avevo davvero bisogno di essere costretta a rimanere in casa per mesi per guardare con occhi diversi il paradiso in cui sono immersa? Probabilmente sì. E da travel blogger un po’ me ne vergogno ma ora più che mai posso dire di essere arrivata ad una conclusione: se non conosci i luoghi dove vivi, se non scopri ciò che di bello ha da offrire il tuo Paese natale, non sarai mai in grado di girare il mondo da viaggiatore, ma sarai sempre e solo un semplice turista.

I promised myself that when we had the chance to travel again, I would prefer my beloved Italy.
And so it was! I kept my word to myself: rediscover and admire with the right eyes the infinite beauty of our Country, too often underestimated and mistreated.

Three lives would not be enough to discover all the wonderful corners that the “Bel Paese” has to offer to those who want to appreciate its immense artistic and naturalistic heritage.

But somewhere we have to start over, or rather, start again. Yes, because in my short life I was lucky enough to be able to travel a lot but perhaps I have never fully appreciated what surrounds me.
I am proud to be Italian, to live in the most beautiful place in the world, but too often I have put it aside to flee to foreign destinations, convinced that they have more things to offer.

Wrong! Did I need the lockdown to figure it out?
Did I really need to be forced to stay indoors for months to look at the paradise where I am with different eyes?
Probably yes.
As a travel blogger I am a little ashamed of it but, now more than ever, I can say that I have come to a conclusion: if you do not know the places where you live, if you do not discover the beauties your native Country has to offer, you will never be able to travel the world as a traveler, but you will always be just a simple tourist.

Dopo questo “breve” ma doveroso preambolo, oggi vi porto con me a scoprire una zona della Puglia dove io e Nicola siamo già stati l’anno scorso ma che meritava davvero una seconda visita. Sto parlando di Otranto, a mio parere uno dei paesi più belli del Salento, che offre ai suoi visitatori non solo un mare dai colori unici, scogliere stupende, grotte magiche, … ma anche tanta storia.

Otranto è l’anagramma di “tornato”.
Questo è un luogo dove si ritorna sempre,
che ti porti addosso come una bellissima memoria…

Il nostro mini tour pugliese parte da qui e per il terzo anno consecutivo,
siamo stati ospiti della catena CDSHotels, ormai la nostra seconda famiglia!

After this “short” but necessary preamble, today I take you with me to discover an area of Puglia where Nicola and I have already been last year but which really deserved a second visit. I’m talking about Otranto,
in my opinion one of the most beautiful towns of Salento, which offers its visitors not only an amazing sea,
beautiful cliffs, magical caves, … but also a lot of history.

Otranto is the anagram of “back” in Italian language. 
This is a place where you always return,
that you carry around like a beautiful memory …

Our mini Apulian tour starts from here and for the third consecutive year,
we were guests of the CDSHotels chain, now our second family!

Il CDSHotels Basiliani **** si trova a soli 800 metri dal centro storico, facilmente raggiungibile a piedi in 10 minuti scarsi.
Qui, immersi nell’arte, nella storia e nella natura, il relax e il benessere sono di casa!
Con i suoi ampi pergolati, le terrazze esterne, i sentieri e i vialetti all’aperto incastonati nella pietra, il Basiliani è perfettamente in sintonia con l’architettura del luogo.

L’ingresso della struttura è davvero curato! Degno di uno splendido resort pugliese. 
La hall è ampia e luminosa ma non bisogna per forza passare per essa per giungere alla propria sistemazione.
Appena varchiamo la soglia, notiamo subito che tutte le regole anti-Covid vengono perfettamente seguite a partire dalla colonnina con l’igienizzante mani.  Di fronte al bancone della reception, poi, è presente un cordone che obbliga i clienti a mantenere la giusta distanza con lo staff.

The CDSHotels Basiliani  **** is located just 800 meters from the historic center, easily reachable on foot in just 10 minutes.
Here, immersed in art, history and nature, relaxation and well-being are at home!
With its large pergolas, outdoor terraces and paths set in stone, Basiliani hotel is perfectly in tune with the local architecture.

The entrance of the building is really nice! Worthy of a splendid Apulian resort.
The hall is large and bright but you don’t have to go through it to get to your accommodation.
All the anti-Covid rules are perfectly followed starting from the column with hand sanitizer.
In front of the reception counter, then, there is a cord that forces clients to keep the right distance with the staff.

Camere del CDSHotels Basiliani

Dopo circa un quarto d’ora dal check-in, ci accompagnano nella nostra stanza.
Le camere del CDSHotels Basiliani, tutte finemente arredate, sono suddivise in Comfort, Superior, Suite Superior e VIP room.
La nostra era una Suite Superior, organizzata in un doppio ambiente: una camera doppia ed una matrimoniale, entrambe dotate di bagno con walk-in shower e un elegantissimo lavabo d’appoggio.
A rendere il tutto ancora più bello, un fantastico terrazzo privato con affaccio sul giardino dell’hotel.

CDSHotels Basiliani rooms

After about a quarter of an hour from check-in, they accompany us to our room.
The rooms of the CDSHotels Basiliani, all finely furnished, are divided into Comfort, Superior, Superior Suite and VIP room.
Ours was a Superior Suite, organized in a double room: a twin one and a double one, both with a bathroom with walk-in shower and an elegant countertop washbasin.
To make everything even more beautiful, a fantastic private terrace overlooking the hotel garden.

La formula scelta per il nostro soggiorno al CDSHotels Basiliani era la mezza pensione,
quindi abbiamo avuto modo di provare anche la cucina serale oltre che l’abbondante colazione mattutina. 
L’offerta di cibo al mattino era davvero ampia, dolce e salato a volontà.
Ovviamente, data la situazione, il buffet veniva servito dal personale. 
Per quanto riguarda la cena, invece, ogni giorno c’era un menù diverso
con la possibilità di scegliere tra 2 antipasti, 2 primi e 2 secondi. 

The formula chosen for our stay at CDSHotels Basiliani was half board,
so we also had the opportunity to try the evening cuisine as well as the abundant morning breakfast.
The food offer in the morning was really wide, sweet and salty at will.
Obviously, because of the situation, the buffet was served by the staff.
As for dinner, however, every day there was a different menu with the possibility
of choosing between 2 appetizers, 2 first courses and 2 seconds.

PISCINA E SPA

La mia zona preferita? Ma naturalmente la grande piscina all’aperto
con bar annesso per gustare un ottimo aperitivo a bordo vasca.

Il CDSHotels Basiliani è uno Spa hotel e come tale è dotato di una zona tutta dedicata
al relax a cui possono accedere anche persone che non soggiornano nella struttura.
Il centro benessere “Il Melograno” è  il più grande del Salento; non ci siamo fatti sfuggire la possibilità di trascorrere qui una mattinata super rilassante. Nella sala principale si trovano una grande piscina riscaldata con vetrate
che affacciano sul verde ed una piscina più piccola e più bassa per godere delle cascate d’acqua. 
In una saletta adiacente, una mini piscina con luci soffuse.
Sono presenti anche sauna e bagno turco ma, causa Covid, non utilizzabili in questo periodo.
Non manca una parte dedicata interamente alla cura del corpo con massaggi e trattamenti estetici.

Inoltre, per chi volesse, l’hotel è convenzionato con il lido Balnearea, zona Alimini, a circa 10 km dal CDSHotels Basiliani, raggiungibile con servizio navetta gratuito.

POOL & SPA

My favorite area? Of course, the large outdoor pool with a corner bar to enjoy an excellent poolside aperitif.

The CDSHotels Basiliani is a Spa hotel and as such is equipped with an area entirely dedicated to relaxation
which can also be accessed by people who are not staying at this hotel.
“Il Melograno” wellness center is the largest one in Salento;
obviously we did not miss the chance to spend a super relaxing morning here.
In the main room there is a wide heated swimming pool with large windows
overlooking the greenery and a smaller pool to enjoy the waterfalls.
In an adjacent room, a mini pool with soft lighting.
There are also saunas and turkish baths but, due to Covid, they cannot be used in this period.
There is also a part dedicated entirely to body care with massages and beauty treatments.

Furthermore, for those who wish, the hotel has an agreement with the Balnearea beach club, in the Alimini area,
about 10 km from the CDSHotels Basiliani, reachable with a free shuttle service.

OTRANTO

Tra un shooting fotografico ed un po’ di relax, non ci siamo fatti sfuggire la possibilità di viverci Otranto senza la calca a cui è abituata normalmente.
Come ben sapete, oltre allo splendido mare, questo paese salentino vanta un bellissimo centro storico. 

Nella zona est di Otranto, dalla piazza dove sorge il castello, inizia a diramarsi il labirinto di viuzze e vicoli che costituiscono la sua parte antica e più caratteristica.
Passeggiare lungo queste stradine dà l’impressione di essere riportati indietro nel tempo.
Le casette, le scalinate, i cortili, le botteghe, le atmosfere di una volta!
É davvero un piacere per gli occhi districarsi tra le mille piccole vie e scoprire scenari nascosti.

OTRANTO

Between a photo shoot and a bit of rest, we did not miss the opportunity
to live Otranto without the crowd it is normally used to.
As you well know, in addition to the splendid sea, this Salento town boasts a beautiful historic center.

In the eastern area of Otranto, from the square where the castle stands,
the labyrinth of alleys that form its ancient and most characteristic part begins to branch out.
Strolling along these narrow streets gives the impression of being taken back in time.
The houses, the stairways, the courtyards, the shops, the atmosphere of the past!
It is really a pleasure for the eyes to navigate the thousand small streets and discover hidden scenarios.

DINTORNI

Infine, anche quest’anno, abbiamo deciso di fare una piccola capatina alla Cava di Bauxite; ve ne avevo già parlato l’anno scorso QUI, ve ne ricordate? 

Purtroppo, però, stavolta sono rimasta molto delusa.
Hanno reso il tutto molto più turistico, aggiungendo un grande parcheggio a pagamento con ingresso obbligatorio, eliminando la possibilità di parcheggiare gratuitamente nella parte alta della cava. 
Inoltre, il percorso da seguire per giungere al lago è segnato da transenne e “sorvegliato” da “personale addetto” pronto ad urlarti addosso e correrti incontro con fare minaccioso e in maniera davvero poco carina se dovessi permetterti di uscire dalla stradina obbligata. La motivazione? Pare che la zona che circonda la cava sia diventata privata ma mi dispiace dirlo… io non ci credo per niente.
Detto ciò, non mi sento assolutamente di dirvi di non andarci… il posto rimane estremamente meraviglioso e merita una visita!

The surroundings

Finally, even this year, we decided to make a small visit to the Bauxite quarry;
I already talked about it last year HERE, do you remember?

Unfortunately, however, this time I was very disappointed.
They made everything much more touristic, adding a large paid parking with compulsory entry, eliminating the possibility of parking for free in the upper part of the quarry.
In addition, the path to follow in order to reach the lake is marked by barriers and  “guarded” by “staff” ready to scream at you and run towards you with a threatening and not very nice way if you were to allow yourself to leave the obligatory route.
The motivation? It seems that the area surrounding the quarry has become private but I’m sorry to say …
I don’t believe it at all.
Having said that, I absolutely do not feel like telling you not to go there …
the place remains extremely wonderful and worth a visit!
